Ed Oswald is a respected freelance technology journalist, and is founder and editor-in-chief of TechPolitik, a technology blog that explores how technology issues are becoming increasingly intertwined with politics in Washington, D.C. and around the world.

Besides TechPolitik, Ed is a contributor to noted technology blog Technologizer. His work has also appeared on the popular tech business blog VentureBeat and Vancouver-based Suite101, as well as syndicated in the New York Times.

Previous to his freelance work, Ed was a Senior Writer with BetaNews.com from November 2004 to September 2008. While there, his focuses were Apple and the digital media and entertainment industries. But those were not the only things Ed covered: his interests broadened to include the topics of net censorship, the intersection of politics and the Internet, and online copyright.

Several stories have been broken by Ed in the field, including most recently the details on thesecond generation Zunes which appeared on news sites including the Wall Street Journal,CNET News.com, Newsfactor, AFP, AP, and Reuters.

With an interest in technology since childhood, writing about it came easy. A self-proclaimed “gadget geek,” life in the technology news business is something he enjoys quite a bit.

Previous to working with BetaNews and online media, Ed started out his career in television news, at both WMGM-TV in Atlantic City, NJ and Blue Ridge Communications Cable-11, a cable-access channel in south central Pennsylvania. During college, he was a reporter for the campus’ weekly news program, Temple Update, from 2001 to 2003.

Ed is a 2003 graduate of Temple University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He currently resides in Reading, Pa.
